In partnership with the ADA, NCQA established the Diabetes Physicians Recognition Program, which distinguishes physicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to their patients with diabetes. The Diabetes Physicians Recognition Program’s evidence-based measures cover areas such as:

  • HbA1c control
  • Blood pressure and low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad” cholesterol) management
  • Eye examinations
  • Nephropathy (kidney disease) assessment
  • Smoking status and cessation advice or treatment
