AHA Heart Walk

When it Comes to Your Heart, Don’t Just Talk the Talk. Walk the Walk at the AHA Heart Walk.

Most of us talk about how we’re finally going to do more to reduce our chances of developing America’s No. 1 killer. But when it comes to heart disease, Borgess, southwest Michigan’s official American Heart Association sponsor, encourages each and every one of us to put our words into lifesaving action by walking the walk at the 2012 Heart Walk.

Our 2012 Heart Walk will take place on:

When:
Saturday, April 28, 2012
Where:
Arcadia Creek Festival Site, Kalamazoo, MI
Time:
8:30 A.M. – Registration/Check-in
9:15 A.M. – Opening Ceremonies begin

About the Heart Walk

The American Heart Association’s Heart Walk was developed to educate people about heart disease, stroke and ways to lower the risk of these life-threatening diseases. The focus of the Heart Walk is simple—Walk more. Eat well. Live longer. Studies have shown that for every one hour of regular, vigorous exercise like brisk walking, a person can gain two more hours of life expectancy.

This year, more than 1 million walkers will participate in nearly 450 events across the country. Your participation will help the American Heart Association raise even more in the fight to save lives.

Go ahead, walk with friends, family, coworkers or strangers you’ll bond with along the way! Sign up, donate or learn more about the Heart Walk.

About Heart Disease and Stroke

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the U.S., claiming more lives than the next seven-leading causes of death combined. Stroke is the nation’s third-leading cause of death and the leading cause of serious, long-term disability. It is estimated the cost to treat persons with heart disease in 2010 will exceed $503 billion.
