We talk with you about types of breast care, teach important self-exam techniques, do breast imaging, relay information on breast disease and procedures, and help you make decisions about breast conditions.
Together, radiologic physicians and an all-female team of certified mammography technologists and specially trained nurses provide the latest in breast care and education.
Breast Care Center professionals also teach how to maintain breast health - from breast cancer risk factor assessment and prevention tactics to comprehensive breast care information. In addition, you'll find the atmosphere of our mammography suites relaxing and private, although they house state-of-the-art breast imaging technology -- from ultrasound and digital mammography to needle localization and breast biopsy.
In fact, the Borgess Breast Care Center houses one of the only prone stereotactic units. For some patients, stereotactic breast biopsy can offer distinct advantages over traditional surgical biopsies. Stereotactic breast biopsy requires no stitches, is relatively painless and allows the patient to return to normal activity the next day. Using diagnostic imaging technology, this alternative to open surgical biopsy uses a hollow needle to gather small samples of breast tissue.
Borgess Breast Care Centers are also accredited by the American College of Radiologists and the Michigan Department of Public Health.
