External Pump Program

Eligible patients can gain freedom from regular insulin injections with this program.

An external pump regularly administers a low dose of insulin, rather than periodic injections of greater amounts, through a small needle inserted into the abdomen.

Borgess Diabetes Center nurses work with patents and their physicians to help determine who can benefit from this alternative method of insulin delivery. The nurse also educates patients on how to use the insulin pump.

For more information on the external pump program, call the Borgess Diabetes Center at (269) 226-8321.

Many insurance plans cover all or part of the cost for the pump education sessions. Our staff can assist you with Medicare, Medicaid and insurance questions.
