Dr. Carol Corbridge, a Borgess Radiologist not only urges women over forty to get screened, she believes certain women should consider digital mammography.
"A recent study showed that full digital mammography significantly increases cancer detection in three segments of the population." The study, published in 2005 by ACRIN (American College of Radiology Imaging Network), showed that three groups of women benefit from digital mammography.
"For women under fifty, or with 'dense breasts' or women who are pre or peri menopausal, digital mammography significantly increased chances of finding cancer, especially invasive cancer." Bottom lines says Dr. Corbridge, "Call today to get screened, and if you fit into one of these categories, strongly consider digital mammography."
Borgess Medical Center is the only hospital offering full digital mammography in Southwest Michigan.
